An Update from Mr Curtis (4.4.25)

A fantastic end to a busy term.

Today we say farewell to Miss McLeod and Mr Pointon who both leave Hawthorns today for new challenges.

We would like to thank them for their amazing dedication and the sheer quality of the teaching they have given to the children.

Both have been a pleasure to work with and I’m sure have made lasting friendships at Hawthorns.

Rose have enjoyed a trip to the airport as part of our topic on different modes of transport and a trip to see the trains in Manor Park.

We've celebrated Eid with our families celebrating in school.

Some of our amazing families shared some amazing food at a celebration held in the family room.

We've had lots of fun at Easter...

Culminating in a whole school Easter Egg rolling competition on the sloping service road outside! This featured a very competitive staff roll – we still don’t know who won!

We have been busy searching to find the eggs in the big heaps of straw.

Maple class have made Easter Cards, Easter Bonnets and completed some Easter themed team-building challenges, well done to the Red Team. We had a visit from the Easter Bunny on Tuesday and went on a Scavenger Hunt to find our Easter Eggs.

In P.E. we had a special visitor…the Easter chick came to join Oak and Aspen. During their sessions the children helped the Easter chick look for her special Easter eggs, did some egg rolling and tested out their egg and spoon race skills, finally finishing off with a game of Chick, Chick…CHICKEN!

Aspen class used “Easter egg hunt” for our writing and enjoyed Easter phonics: cracking the eggs and building the words with the sounds inside it.

Willow class had a great trip at Heaton Park and recreated the last supper to learn about the Easter story.

On Thursday 3rd April Mrs Sarno and Mrs Brookes had the difficult job of picking the winners and runners up of the Easter colouring and decorate an egg competitions.

The winners and runners from the decorate an egg were...

1st - Zach T (Willow)

2nd - Roman Heath (Oak)

3rd - Francesca (Lily)

The winners and runners up of the colouring competition were...
