An Update from Mr Curtis (23.5.25)
As the half term ends, I want to thank all staff and families for the amazing efforts and team work over recent months. As our Ofsted report shows, and as we know, the dedication of the whole community is what really makes Hawthorns a special place. As always, it's been a busy week. Mr Sylvester led an online safety session for families. The session went really well and will be something we will do again soon - thanks to all families who were able to attend.
This week Maple Class took a trip to Notcutts Garden Centre in Ashton to help choose some new plants for the school allotment. We chose flowers, herbs and even some fruits and vegetables. We can’t wait to plant and see them grow.
Buds class have been learning about rainbow fish and had lots of fun making bubble fish.
As part of Maths Week and our PSHE work around keeping healthy, Maple Class explored how much exercise we would have to do to burn off different treats that we had eaten. We measured how far we walked using trundle wheels.
This week in P.E. Pine and Willow have been continuing to develop their jumping skills for height and distance.
Children in Chestnut class have been making their own working hearts to learn about how the heart pumps our blood around the body.
