Welcome to Elder Class
We are a key stage 2, Connections Pathway class at Hawthorns School. We love to learn in a highly structured and sensory considerate environment. We use the SCERTS framework to support pupils to develop their social communication and emotional regulation. Our key priorities are supporting pupils to use their communication for a range of social purposes, begin to make and maintain relationships with peers and develop their self-regulation skills.
The Adults in Elder Class are:
Name | Position |
Miss A. White | Class Teacher |
Miss K. Fitchett | Teaching Assistant |
Miss S. Austin | Teaching Assistant |
Miss K. O’Neill | Teaching Assistant |
As well as developing our communication and regulation skills, we also cover a wide range of exciting topics to expand our interests in the world around us. All sessions are hands on and engaging to ensure pupils develop a love for learning. Each session is differentiated to the individual child to ensure learning is meaning and purposeful to all.

Hawthorns school now has a parent app (PA Connect) The app is now the school’s main way of communication. This reduces the amount of paper we use as an Eco School. All letters, newsletters and important message will be sent directly to your phone or tablet via the app. Parents and carers can also update changes in emergency contact numbers that we have on our systems for your child.
